Papeteries du Rhin is the first step on the way to your paper core. In Illzach, France, we produce around 90,000 tonnes of core board every year. In close cooperation with the experts from Papierfabrik Carl Macher, which also belongs to the Kunert Group, we constantly work on optimising our products. With our know-how, we not only produce particularly high quality core board, but above all are committed to sustainability and fully recyclable paper products.

1840
Foundation and start of construction of the Ile Napoléon paper mill by J. Zuber.

1851
Separation from the headquarters and continuation under the name Papeterie Zuber Rieder.

1862
The paper mill builds the road from Ile Napoléon to Mulhouse at its own cost.

1864
A fire destroys half of the factory, which in the following years still develops further, and which works together with the sister paper mill Zuber in Torpes.

1985
The families Lhomme and Kunert acquire the paper mill and continue it under the name Papeteries du Rhin.

1994
Installation of a shoe press.

1999
Construction of the biological sewage plant, filtering using immersion membranes. The paper mill receives the "Goutte d’eau" award for this from the water agency.

2001
Expansion of the stock preparation and full conversion of the drying section, the drive and steam generation.

2006
Papeteries du Rhin is now wholly-owned by the Kunert Group.

2007
Conversion of the stock preparation.

Conversion of the wet end.

Energy project, together with the joint board of the Region Mulhouse and the French Agency for Energy Management.
